Tempo limite de espera do Amazon RDS MySQL 5.5 Innodb Lock excedido

Desde que nos mudamos para o Amazon RDS, tivemos alguns problemas de desempenho bem loucos e hoje começamos a ter problemas de bloqueio. Por causa disso, achei que era apenas uma questão de tempo limite e fui verificar nossa memória usada. Estávamos trocando cerca de 70 MB. Fiz uma caça às bruxas na memória com o mysqltuner, e ele disse que cerca de 400% do uso máximo de memória é possível. Agora, tenho apenas um pouco> 100%., Graças ao Assistente de configuração da Percona.

No entanto, ainda temos esse problema de bloqueio, então estou assumindo que NÃO está relacionado à memória / troca. Por que ainda estou recebendo o bloqueio? O que está acontecendo aqui?

Estou confiante de que uma reinicialização resolverá o problema, mas essa não deve ser a solução. O que poderíamos fazer para evitar isso no futuro? Tentei liberar o cache de consulta e as tabelas - que funcionaram.

Não tenho certeza se este é um problema no nível do aplicativo. Temos o mesmo comportamento sem motivo aparente. Ele se corrigiu quando ficou sem espaço e reverteu quando atingiu a troca. O que poderia consumir 15 GB de espaço em disco e liberá-lo em 10 minutos.
