MVC3 Razor DropDownListFor Enums

Tentando atualizar meu projeto para MVC3, algo que simplesmente não consigo encontrar:

Eu tenho um tipo de dados simples de ENUMS:

public enum States()
{
  AL,AK,AZ,...WY
}

Que desejo usar como DropDown / SelectList na minha visão de um modelo que contém este tipo de dados:

public class FormModel()
{
    public States State {get; set;}
}

Muito simples: quando vou usar a visualização de geração automática para esta classe parcial, ela ignora esse tipo.

Preciso de uma lista de seleção simples que defina o valor do enum como o item selecionado quando clico em enviar e processar por meio do meu método AJAX - JSON POST.

E do que a vista (???!):

    <div class="editor-field">
        @Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.State, model => model.States)
    </div>

Acabei de fazer um para meu próprio projeto. O código abaixo faz parte da minha classe auxiliar, espero ter obtido todos os métodos necessários. Escreva um comentário se não funcionar e eu verificarei novamente.

Atualizar

Eu criei ajudantes Html alternativos. Tudo que você precisa fazer para usá-los é alterar sua página de visualização da base emviews\web.config .

Com eles, você pode apenas fazer:

@Html2.DropDownFor(m => m.YourEnum);
@Html2.CheckboxesFor(m => m.YourEnum);
@Html2.RadioButtonsFor(m => m.YourEnum);

Ok, bem, funciona de qualquer maneira, estou apenas recebendo um erro de compilação: Linha 41: return htmlHelper.DropDownList (inputName, ToSelectList (typeof (TProperty), value.ToString ())); 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper <TModel>' não contém uma definição para 'DropDownList' e nenhum método de extensão 'DropDownList' aceitando um primeiro argumento do tipo 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper <TModel>' pôde ser encontrado ( está faltando uma diretiva using ou uma referência de assembly?)

@Para Estou tendo o mesmo problema, o valor selecionado não aparece selecionado na Visualização. (Tive que mudar ((int)item).ToString()para Enum.GetName(enumType, item)para obter o SelectListItemsalvo corretamente como selecionado, mas ainda não funciona)

Se você quer algo realmente simples, há outra maneira, dependendo de como você armazena o estado no banco de dados.

Se você tivesse uma entidade como esta:

Então, gerar o menu suspenso seria tão fácil quanto isto:

@stewartml Quando meu ViewModel tem a propriedade enum + a "SelectedCodeProperty", então esta é uma propriedade a mais em sua postagem. Por que não ter o enum em ambos como valor selecionado postado de volta no servidor + como valor de item.

Com base na resposta aceita por @jgauffin, criei minha própria versão do EnumDropDownListFor, que trata do problema de seleção de itens.

O problema é detalhado em outra resposta do SO aqui e é basicamente devido a um mal-entendido do comportamento das diferentes sobrecargas deDropDownList .
