Como mudar a webcam padrão? Alterar dfaults no seletor multimídia não está funcionando

Eu tenho o Logitech c920 configurado. Com a ajuda de um usuário experiente do AskUbuntu, instalei o GUVCview, o painel de controle do Video4 linux e o testador de utilidades QT V4L2 aqui. Posso mudar da webcam incorporada do Toshiba para a webcam externa usando o GUVCview.

No entanto, quando inicio um videochat no Google Hangouts, ele seleciona automaticamente minha câmera embutida no laptop como padrão. Gostaria de alterar minhas configurações padrão para sempre usar câmera externa, mas não consigo encontrar onde está essa opção. Com base na resposta de @hopeithelps, parece que os programas consideram / dev / video0 a webcam padrão. No meu sistema, / dev / video0 é inicialmente a câmera integrada, enquanto / dev / video1 aparece / desaparece automaticamente quando a webcam externa é conectada / desconectada.

Então , acabei de escrever um comando simples para definir / dev / video0 para apontar para a "melhor câmera disponível" - a webcam, se houver, e a câmera integrada, caso contrário. No momento, tenho que chamar esse script manualmente depois de conectar / desconectar a webcam. No entanto, o microfone muda automaticamente para o "melhor microfone" porque eu segui esta resposta do askUbuntu .

Rant: O Ubuntu não deveria ter uma abordagem unificada para conectar hot plug de vídeo, câmera, alto-falante, microfone (e também teclado, mouse, MIDI, ...?). Todas essas coisas parecem exigir ajustes separados. Eu acho que o gnome-display-manager tem o design ideal: ele lembra minhas configurações antigas quando conecto um monitor que usei antes.

Testado com guvcview e Google Hangouts, usando duas webcams diferentes da Logitech. Estou executando o Ubuntu 13.10 (na verdade, Mint Petra) em um Thinkpad T530i.

Pode ser necessário editar o script se sua webcam aparecer como / dev / video3 ou algo assim, como acontece para @hopeithelps. (Talvez eu devesse ter escolhido o dispositivo / dev / video * que possui o registro de data e hora mais recente ...)

Não sei se é o melhor caminho, mas com a mesma webcam e o problema que encontrei ao usar o comando sudo rm /dev/video0remove minha webcam. Ele se foi até a reinicialização. Você pode precisar cd /deve certificar-se de que sua webcam é video0minha c920 video3.

Eu acho que tenho uma solução. Não sei se é possível fazer com que a câmera do seu laptop funcione novamente, mas pelo menos eu consegui fazer um USB como padrão.

Eu fiz assim:

1. sudo rm /dev/video0
   Depois disso, não consegui iniciar o Camorama Webcam Viewer.
2. sudo chmod -R 777 /dev
   Isso permite que você mude os nomes dos arquivos
3. mv /dev/video1 /dev/video0
   Isso renomeia sua câmera USB para dev0

Depois disso, pude ver minha câmera USB automaticamente quando abri o Camorama Webcam Viewer. Eu espero que isso ajude.
