Tentei vários já existentes, mas não consegui encontrar um indicador de locais de trabalho . Os que encontrei estavam desatualizados, os ppa não eram mais mantidos.

..em um e no mesmo diretório que o script.

O indicador apresentado abaixo foi elaborado para uma pergunta diferente, mas desde que a oportunidade se apresentou, decidi divulgá-lo aqui. O Indicador de Arquivos é um indicador simples para acessar arquivos e pastas do usuário. Permite verificar arquivos usados recentemente, marcar arquivos e diretórios. Em particular, o menu Lugares é especificamente relevante para esta pergunta.
Como você pode ver na captura de tela, o indicador também suporta localidades diferentes do inglês; portanto, se o seu sistema usar algo diferente do inglês, ele funcionará.
Atualização : o indicador agora também suporta o lançamento de arquivos .desktop que foram fixados. Por exemplo, se você tiver fixado o firefox.desktop, ele iniciará o firefox. Assim, o indicador pode ser usado como iniciador rápido para programas. O recurso está a caminho do PPA no momento da redação (19 de novembro, 19:53 pm GMT, deve levar cerca de 24 horas para ser processado), mas já está no github e aqui, no código-fonte atualizado.

O indicador é configurado através de dois arquivos json armazenados no diretório inicial do usuário.

controla a interface do usuário, o comprimento das entradas do menu e os números máximos no menu Arquivos Recentes.

Ok pessoal, o que eu fiz foi apenas instalar o Ubuntu-Gnome e habilitar a extensão 'Places' na ferramenta Tweak. Tenho que dizer que o Ubuntu Gnome parece muito melhor do que o Unity
